Treasurer Janet Cowell

Janet Cowell is North Carolina’s popularly-elected Treasurer and is the first woman to hold the office.  She was first elected to the post in 2008 and re-elected in 2012.  Cowell oversees more than $90 billion in pension investments for the more than 900,000 teachers, firefighters, and public employees in North Carolina.  As Treasurer, she manages the 32nd largest public pension in the world and the third most solid in the nation.  Under Cowell’s executive leadership, North Carolina is one of only ten states in the country to earn a AAA bond rating by all three rating agencies.  Treasurer Cowell was recently named one of the top 25 public pension executives in the world by Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute.  Cowell is a Wharton School of Business alumna.

1. From I-85 take Exit 38 (which is I-77).
2. Take I-77 South (to downtown Charlotte/Columbia).
3. Follow I-77 South to Exit 9 (which is John Belk Freeway/Wilkinson Blvd.).
4. Exit onto John Belk Freeway/US 74 East (Exit 9-B).
5. Follow signs to College Street (Exit 1E).
6. Exit onto College Street.
7. Pass the first light at Stonewall Street.
8. Turn left into The Green parking deck before E. Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd. (formerly Second Street).
9. Check in at the Security Desk. Parker Poe reception is on the 30th floor.

Charlotte office from I-77 North or South:

1. From I-77 exit onto John Belk Freeway/US 74 East (Exit 9-B).
2. Follow signs to College Street (Exit 1E).
3. Exit onto College Street.
4. Pass the first light at Stonewall Street.
5. Turn left into The Green parking deck before E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. (formerly Second Street).
6. Check in at the Security Desk. Parker Poe reception is on the 30th floor.

Charlotte office from Charlotte/Douglas International Airport:

1. When exiting airport, follow signs to Billy Graham Parkway North (left lane).
2. Follow the loop around and enter Billy Graham Parkway/North.
3. Go to the first stoplight - the intersection with Morris Field Road (a sign says “Downtown” and points right).
4. Take a right onto Morris Field Road and follow it until the right lane merges with Wilkinson Boulevard.
5. Follow Wilkinson Boulevard until it merges into John Belk Freeway/I-277/Downtown.
6. Follow signs to College Street (Exit 1E).
7. Exit onto College Street.
8. Pass the first light at Stonewall Street.
9. Turn left into The Green parking deck before E Martin Luther King, Jr Blvd. (formerly Second Street).
10. Check in at the Security Desk. Parker Poe is on the 30th floor.
