A few highlights from the recent media coverage:

President Obama's State of the Union Address: a Siemens Energy employee from Charlotte was seated in a place of honor beside First Lady Michelle Obama. Before joining Siemens as a process operator in the Gas Turbine Transitions department and receiving additional technical skills, Jackie Bray, a single mother, was working two jobs to support her family. During his address, the President recognized Jackie as an example of how investing in manufacturing and innovative technologies can create jobs and build a strong American economy.

Following the State of the Union Address, on Wednesday, January 25, U.S. Department of the Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner visited the Siemens Energy Charlotte Hub to highlight the President’s efforts to create jobs. The Secretary toured the recently expanded manufacturing facility and visit with employees throughout the campus. Siemens Energy has invested more than $350 million in Charlotte in the last four years – an investment that will create more than 1,000 jobs, many of them highly skilled, bringing the total number of employees to more than 1,800.

On February 24, Fred Hochberg, chairman of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, toured the Charlotte Energy Hub with local leadership. The bank provided financing for a $1 billion deal Siemens Energy closed recently to provide natural gas turbines and generators for a 4-GW Saudi Arabian power plant project.
