About this session:
Lessons from the Front Lines of Progressive Leadership
Vit will share practical insight from his research on the impact of political hazards on investment and strategy, and the need for multinational corporations to engage in what he calls "corporate diplomacy," to win the hearts and minds of stakeholders and secure the social as well as the formal license to operate. In considering how—and which stakeholders—companies should engage on which issues, Vit draws lessons from the front lines of Corporate Diplomacy, from mines in Mali to hotels in Bali. Christine's book, "The Evolution of a Corporate Idealist: When Girl Meets Oil," recounts her time at BP—where she spent nine years, primarily managing the social impacts of some of the company's biggest projects in the developing world—and weaves in stories and reflections from other intrapreneurs deep inside some of the world's biggest and best-known companies.
